Lol.

Hey guys, after a long and very heavy trip we can finally reach you guys again..

Location after day 2: Bad Essen. Food is okay though.

After a very nice  start with some hills and stuff we managed to enter Germany. Around 9:30 we started looking for a place to sleep. We decided to ask a farmer if we could stay on his ground. It appeared to be one nice lady who gave us access to a local bar. We played cards, had fun, and made our beds. So we actually had a roof!

The day after was even heavier. We had the thoughest climb in our personal tour but we made it. After that we had several other climbs. Heavy to go up, awesome to go down.

We also set a new speed record. While Joost and Vic were going  down effortless, I was breaking heavily while still overtaking them lol. I didnt break my previous record of 65km h since I still have to get used to the bike, but 64 will do for now. Joost and Vic also did about 60 km h. Joost was verz excited and that made me happy.

In some very small village we asked a lady if we could place our tents in the garden. This is 10 meters in front of a supermarket wich opens at 7. PERFECT!

While setting up our campsite the woman came to us and gave us beer. Awesome! Not healthy but let´s be honnest: WHO CARES!??

Oh I just  found the ß at my keyboard.

Anyway, the days fly by and I cant wait to get on my bike. Yesterday eve and this morning my muscles were quite in a bad shape. Also for the others. But now… it feels great!

The morale is great and we’re having a great time. We didn’t take a lot of pictures so far since I didnt bring my EOS, but DO expect a full length movie haha!

Challenges

Oh yes, challenges. Yesterday we couldnt make the first challenge. But admit: finding a local specialität in the Niederlande is quite difficult. Yup. Today we found a restaurant who served a speciale frikandelle. So we took it and it was quite okay!

Also we managed to find 2 Germans who said in front of the cam “De kat krabt de krullen van de trap”, LOL nice one! One to go!!

So, thats it. And THANKS for the mails and comments, VERY appreciated!!!!

-Us.

start!

okay we’re now in Apeldoorn enjoying our lunch. We had a great start but had some problems uphill, we didnt expect this. Downhill was great fun and eventhough im packed i did 60.5 km/h and overtook some other cyclists on professional bicycles.

Off to germany!

90 km!

Today I did the first 40 km of our trip. Just to check out how the roads are and if I still have it in me. Well I gotta say cycling with these new shoes is weird. I got all sorts of pain on places I wasn’t used to. On the other side, this shouldn’t be surprising.

The thing is with these shoes, you’ll use a lot of muscles that you normally don’t use THAT much. And now all of a sudden out of the blue I started using them for a in total 90 km trip. But in the end when the muscles were all warmed up, all of a sudden all went well.

It’s weird to be attached to your pedals. I tried to stop because I “had to go”, and couldn’t detach my left foot from the pedal resulting in me falling over when my bike reached the speed of 0 km/h. GREAT. It must have looked funny, but I was in horror. Nah not really.

The speed increase is cool, especially when going uphill. I think these shoes will be very useful for that! They also ventilate really good so I don’t expect sweaty feet haha.

I also took some pictures. I really liked this one so that’s why I posted it. If you click on it you will see an enlarged version.

Anyway it was a good ride, but I definitely have to work on my condition. Still, 90 km/h with an average of 26 km/h is quite sweet.

Till next time!

Ugh

Hey guys.

Did a 70 km trip to Amsterdam Central station and back. And yes I did this on the bike of course hehe. Didn’t go by train. It was a good ride but it’s quite clear I need some more practice. My condition dropped to a very low level.

The bike felt great though. Think I need to do some adjustments and the derailleur and cables need replacement.. but apart from that I have to say I still love my Optima Stinger. :)

Website updated!

Allrightey! What happend here?

- Background edited (… yeah big change. Lol)
- Instead of “Steven” page there’s now a “The Team” page and sub-menu where you can select one of the 4 team members to check his profile.
- DIGG has been added. Now you can add posts and pages to your digg account.
- A Shoutbox has been added. Feel free to communicate with us or others through it!
- About Steven page has been updated. I hope the others will submit their stories quickly!
- The Route page has been updated, I’ve started creating the waypoints list with distances included, check it out!

That’s it for now, enjoy! :-)

Patch it, oil it.

Yeah had a small accident as I said earlier. We removed the special patch and all stuff and replaced it with a normal patch. Couldn’t help it to work further on my bike resulting my hand, and the patch looking oily haha!

Adjusted my damper btw. The bike is a bit more stiff now. Hope to go a tad faster thanks to that. No clue how the bike reacts to it, but in general I dont like softer setups.  Damn it feels good to talk like a Formula one driver!

Frontcrank and the chain transporter are repaired btw. Awesome!

Gorzów Wielkopolski

LET’s GO FROM THE NETHERLANDS TO POLAND ON OUR BICYCLE, SHALL WE??

Traditionally the first post is a post to make sure the blog works. This will be the place where you can find all the information about the next mission. The next quest, journey or whatever you want to call it. Some call it a vacation, trip or a time off. For me. It’s a goal. Something I want to do. Something that tells me I pushed further.

The goal?

Why Gorzów Wielkopolski?

From Berlin it is the biggest city in Poland so it’s a nice goal. And then back.

Who to join? So far I don’t have any candidates yet. Well Vic and Joost seemed interested but they haven’t dedicated yet.

So stay tuned, because this summer I will show you Germany and Poland!

- Steven.
